the first thing we did upon arriving in san francisco on january 3rd was get into the wrong car at the airport.  "san jose?" the driver asked in a thick european accent.  "no... san francisco" my mom replied.  about a block away from the airport, we realized our mistake, and our driver turned around.  

i guess a lot of the car services in california drive similar cars.  after going from one big black lincoln to the next big black lincoln, we were on our way.  sonja, myself, and my mom, spent the next five days living in luxury at the orchard hotel at the corner of powell and bush.  the cable cars stopped right outside, and took us everywhere we needed to go.  we toured alcatraz, saw "royal tenenbaums," and ate a lot of good food, among other things.

towards the end of our stay there, i dreaded having to come back to ames, and was really starting to wish that we didn't have to.  but my mom made us.  we got a bunch of good pictures, and i will scan and post them soon.

i got a signed copy of doughty's solo album "skittish" for christmas (three signed copies, to be exact).  each signed one also features one of doughty's "fake words." my word was mloss. click here for a better explanation of the fake words.

if you like soul coughing, you really need to get doughty's album, and you really need to see him live, too.  good stuff.  want to buy one of my extra signed copies of skittish?   each one has its own unique fake word e-mail me! 

in other news, isu4 is now cy46.  the bastards moved us again.  school starts back up tomorrow, and that sucks.  and it is also now the year 2002.   -sfc

i never really sit down at my desk with the intention of updating this page, which is dumb, because i always end up rambling like this.  anyway, here are some recent happenings, for everyone who cares, or has read this far.

• sonja has been cast in a big role in billings & spivey, episode II.  if you have no idea what that is, it's a spinoff of the billings & spivey shorts on oxymorons.  production starts tomorrow morning.  oh, and i have one line in it too.  go me.

• i want an ipod.  sonja got one for christmas from her parents.  those things are cool.  

• i got a new desk chair.  the old one is for sale.  (don't worry, i washed it.)  i'll autograph it if you want.

• jake got a new catbox because not even a carwash could clean the old one.

• i haven't scanned all the pictures from san francisco yet, but here's a good one.

• i am now a co-producer of "the trailer home," a movie review show on cy46.  i'm finally cool.

and in unrelated-to-sean news:

• trey's second solo album comes out april 30th.

• phish is on "the simpsons" on april 7th.

• luckily, jennifer aniston is going to be okay.

finally, after much delay, i have received and scanned the document that started a revolution that started a pencil on a piece of paper.  yes, friends, tic-tac-tello has arrived.
